Brewake privacy.

In short
Brewake has no account, no analytics and no tracking. It goes online only for the things listed below. We don’t sell or share your data.
What the app sends
- When you enter a license key, the app sends the key and your Mac’s name (the Name in System Settings → General → About) to Polar, the store that issues the keys, to activate it. The name lets you tell your Macs apart in Polar’s customer portal.
- About once a week, the app sends the key and the activation ID to Polar to check that the key is still valid.
- When you choose Deactivate on This Mac, the app sends the key and the activation ID to Polar to free up that Mac.
- About once a day, the app asks this website whether a newer version is out. The answer comes from GitHub, where the downloads are kept. The request includes nothing about you or your license.
Polar, GitHub and this website’s host see your IP address, as any server you connect to does. Polar’s privacy policy covers what Polar does with it.
What stays on your Mac
- Your settings (language, whether you have seen the welcome note, and when the app last checked for a new version).
- Your license, in license.json: when the trial started, and after you activate, the key, the activation ID and the email it was sold to.
Both are kept inside the app’s own folder on your Mac, ~/Library/Containers/com.kareui.brewake/. The app does not upload them. Only what is listed above is sent.
When you buy
Polar handles the payment, so your card details go to Polar and its payment processor, never to us. We can see your name, email address, billing address or country, and order in Polar’s dashboard. We use them only to support you, to handle refunds and to keep the tax records the law requires.
This website
This website does not use cookies or analytics scripts. The hosting provider (Google Firebase) keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages asked for. We use them for security and to count visits and downloads, never to identify you.
Removing your data
Delete the app, then delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.kareui.brewake. If a license is active, choose Deactivate on This Mac first so you can use it on another Mac.
To have your purchase records deleted, email us. Some records must be kept for as long as tax law requires.
